CASSP is the California Archaeological Site Stewardship Program. It recruits and trains public volunteers to help protect archaeological and historical sites by making repeated visits to assigned sites and report on their conditions. Volunteer site stewards work under the supervision of the archaeologists who work at the land management agency where the sites are located.

During this 6-hour Zoom webinar we will talk about ethics, safety, site stewardship duties and responsibilities, confidentiality of site information, and volunteer opportunities with featured land management agencies. A follow-up workshops consist of an in-person field day at one of the agencies featured in the webinar. In order to attend a field day, you must attend the webinar first. sign a confidentiality agreement to not reveal sensitive site information, and pay a $25 workshop fee.
